Do not store or display works of art in areas of potentially high humidity or water leakage, e.g. basement, decorative bathroom, outside walls, under pipes. Avoid areas where temperature and humidity fluctuate, or where there is inadequate air circulation, e.g. attic and places listed above. Do not hang artworks over or under paintings and decorative radiators, heating paintings and cooling vents, active fireplaces, humidifiers, and vaporizersA. The hygroscopic nature of wood decorative means that it will take water from the atmosphere and expand, but it will contract as the humidity lessens. The direction of shrinkage is almost always around the circumference, which causes a solid piece of wood to crack vertically. Keeping it in a steady relative humidity can stabilize the paintings sculpture; if the wood does not absorb or release moisture, it will no longer expand or contract.

Our studio grew out of Maurel Press originated in 1955 by artists Sheila and Ary Marbain. It opened as a custom decorative screen printing shop specializing in printing with contemporary artists. paintings Sheila had studied art at Black Mountain College in North Carolina with Joseph Albers, Ilya Bolotowsky and William deKooning from 1948 through decorative 1950. Ary had worked and exhibited as a painter in France for many years. After the sudden death of Ary Marbain in 1963, the studio was closed for a year. Sheila then decided to modernize the workshop and introduce screen photography along with a new vacuume printing table. Our studio reopened on 23rd Street in Manhattan. With an assistant, Sheila plunged into printing three dimensional objects. A plexiglass airship for Lichtenstein, an Oldenburg paintings soft drum set, a set of dominoes with Fahlstrom, and a decorative large fabric banner with Marisol were some of the editions paintings.
